Chic Leather Wallets

Most wallets come in leather. Of all materials used in making wallets, leather definitely stands out. In fact, the very first wallets in history were made of leather. Wallets came into being right after paper currency was introduced in the West. This happened in the 1600s. In fact, the first paper currency, which came before leather wallets but not by much, was then made of corn paper in 1690 in the Massachusetts Bay colony. Prior to that, leather pouches were more more widely used than leather wallets since they had to store coins, the only currency then known. These early leather wallets were made from cow or horse skin and had a small pouch for calling cards.

Modern mens leather wallets are not as different as the leather wallets of before except for the card slots that were added after credit cards were introduced in 1951. About the only change in wallets was probably in the '70s when Velcro became popular. Now, you'll see wallets made from different materials in all shapes and sizes and for various purposes.

Leather wallets that are thin enough or flat enough to be concealed in other than the usual places-even on a string hung around the neck and underneath the clothes—became popular with the increase in robbery and especially identity theft.

Men's wallets are really simple. A bifold is enough for them. For women, their wallet should go with what they are wearing, where they are going, and the stuff they would be carrying with them. Here are the different types of women's wallets:

* There''s the flat, rounded, space-saving wallet called the front pocket wallet. The front pocket wallet is able to hold the usual wallet content of ID cards, credit cards, cash and coins and is usually made of Napa leather. This is designed for women on the go. You can choose from black, cocoa brown, and really trendy blend of blue, green, and pink combined with black. You may even have it embossed with your initials or eight characters that you like.

* Another type is the travel wallets by Tony Perotti. This has three separate zipped compartments for bills, cards, and change. It also has a front flap to secure the three inner partitions. The taxi wallet is available in chocolate brown and black.

* The Ultimo eather weekend wallet is small enough to be easily concealed on your person but big and organized enough to allow you to carry six credit or ID cards and other stuff beyond your cash. It's got internal pockets and stash for you to be able to organize the contents. Its leather is hand dyed and come in colors of cognac, chocolate brown, or black.

* If you need a classic all-in-one wallet, then the credit card wallet might suit you. It has a clip that holds your cash and compartments in which to put other things in. The money clip wallet is available in black, honey or chocolate brown colors.

* Rustico's leather weekend wallet is also designed by Tony Perotti. This wallet is very easy to carry around. It has center pockets for change and stuff you may have with you.
