Huehuetenango, a city in the western highlands of Guatemala, is located alongside the Sierra de los Cuchumatanes, which is the highest mountain chain in Central America. This city is located near the ancient capital of the Mam Maya people, and its name means "the place of the ancients." Huehuetenango has two distinct atmospheres: half of the city is inhabited by indigenous people who lead a quiet life with a relaxed pace. The other half of the city is a hubbub of activity, with many travelers, tourists, and a busy market scene.
